On October 23, 1981, 19-year-old Millicent Elaine Wilson, a sophomore at Florida A&M University, was found murdered in her dorm room at Cropper Hall. Hours before the Orange Blossom Classic football game, students learned that a promising life had been taken in a brutal crime that shocked Tallahassee.
Investigators soon focused on Clifford Walker, a fellow FAMU student whose disturbing behavior, religious delusions, and incriminating letters linked him to the crime. Despite his denials, evidence including fibers, injuries, and handwritten confessions pointed to his guilt. Walker was convicted of sexual assault and first-degree murder in 1983, sentenced to life in prison, and remained incarcerated until his death in 2017.
This case remains one of the most chilling campus crimes in Florida history.
